Persicaria microcephala 'Red Dragon' (approx) 6-8 inches in height and sent in a 1 Litre plant pot. 'Red Dragon' is a spreading perennial with lance-shaped, purplish-green leaves with a bold central splash of purple bordered by a silver chevron marking. Clusters of rounded tiny white flowers are produced in late summer and autumn. This perennial provides excellent ground cover, but also makes an attractive container plant. This plant has an ultimate height of 0.1-0.5 metres, and an ultimate spread of 0.5-1 metres. ‘Red Dragon’ will tolerate a range of soils and will happily grow in sun or partial shade. This unusual herbaceous perennial looks great in tropical planting schemes, where it makes the perfect partner to cannas, bamboos and other jungle plants. This striking plant is hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters (-10°C to -15°C).
