3x Sarracenia x Catesbaei (Flava x Purpurea) 6-8 inches in height and sent bare root. Sarracenia traps and digests insects in its funnel like pitchers, the insects are attracted by a nectar-like secretion on the lips of the pitchers. They are very easy to grow provided you follow a few simple rules - keep moist at all times and never let them dry out, only in winter months you should reduce water levels to prevent root rot but never let them dry out. Where possible use rain water as some tap water can be harmful to carnivorous plants. As a final note please remember never to use compost or anything containing nutrients as this will surely kill the plant. Carninvous plants hate any form of nutrients in the soil and you must use one or a mix of the following: spaghnum/irish moss peat or coir peat.
It should be noted that this particular specimen becomes dormant in the winter, and therefore will shed a proportion of its foliage in the autumn.
